What is a Microneedling Facial?
Microneedling also known as Collagen Induction Therapy, is a safe and effective skin rejuvenating treatment to treat various skin imperfections and restore the healthy, youthful appearance of skin. Through controlled micro needle insertions of the dermis layer- the top layer of the skin, thousands of micro-injuries are created. This stimulates the natural production of collagen and elastin.
The natural skin healing process which is triggered, induces skin rejuvenation and further enhanced with the absorption of active serums, resulting in a brighter, smoother, youthful complexion.

Results and Aftercare
Firstly, please rest assured, a Microneedling facial does not hurt! The treatment is often far more comfortable than people expect - the word needles alone can make microneedling sound intimidating. However, the needles are extremely fine and designed to create controlled micro-channels, not deep wounds. Most reporting the sensation to feel like a light scratching / prickling sensation.
Client comfort is top priority, your professional skin therapist Emma, will work with you and your skin and your comfort is monitored at all times. It can be uncomfortable in some certain areas of your face such as the forehead, nose and upper lip, but with needle depth adjustment and relaxation techniques this can make this treatment a breeze.
At Southwick Beauty Studio, we recommend if you want the maximum potential out of the session, to avoiding numbing creams which can change the skin behavior by constricting blood vessels and not show the skins true result. We like to keep the skin active, allowing the body’s natural healing process to start immediately. It's safe, intentional, and results-focused.
If you have any concerns over tolerance to the sensation - a numbing cream can be recommended for use for sensitive clients to be applied at least 30 minutes before their appointment.​​​
A pre appointment consultation form will be sent to you upon booking to complete and enjoy an in-person consultation on the day of your appointment to ensure you receive the most effective treatment for your beautiful skin.
The treatment begins by relaxing onto the heated beauty bed. Once comfortable, the facial beings with a deep double cleanse and a natural enzymatic peel gel is massaged into the skin. This multi-active exfoliant peel visibly removes impurities and prepares the newly refreshed skin layers for the treatment. A medical grade skin antiseptic then removes the final oils and grease.
A sterile, single use only needle cartridge is fitted to the professional device, ready to start the treatment. An intense low molecular weight Hyalaronic Acid / or choice of a Mesotherapy Cocktail booster serum is applied to the skin - (Please see below for the advanced benefits for the Mesotherapy Boosters.) The microneedling is performed in methodical routine over sections of the skin, this takes about 20 minutes. Once all areas have been treated, a professional broad spectrum dermo corrective SPF is applied to restore and protect the skin. An additional "Intense Cooling Hyalaronic Acid" mask can be added before this step - Please see details below.

After microneedling, temporary reactions from treatment may include skin redness/ flushing, and tightness whilst the skin adjusts and heals. Any redness will usually typically resolve within hours and many people are able to return to their normal activities the same or next day. Some people may react differently and may experience these reactions for longer. Refrain from saunas, steam baths, hot showers, high impact aerobic exercise/vigorous physical activity for 24hours and avoid intensive sun exposure, sun beds/ extreme weather conditions for a minimum of 2 weeks.
The first two days after a microneedling treatment are crucial for skin recovery. During this time, the skin is highly sensitive, and proper care will help minimise irritation and promote healing. Use of a gentle cleanser and an intensive moisturiser is advised for at least a week as skin may feel drier or tighter after treatment. Mineral make-up can be applied once skin has settled, this is typically around 24 hours. Please allow at least 7 days before the use of any homecare products containing Retinol or AHA's/ BHA exfoliants.
